Willowbank Raceway - General News: BEATON, PINKSTONE READY FOR FIRST 2012 EIGHTH MILE HIT-OUT

BEATON, PINKSTONE READY FOR FIRST 2012 EIGHTH MILE HIT-OUT

17 April 2012

2011 series winners Michael Beaton and Andrew Pinkstone are ready and rearing to go at this weekend's opening round of the JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series at Willowbank Raceway.

The pair will be just two of more than an 100 racers  expected to front up to Queensland's premier drag racing facility for the first of four rounds this Saturday.

2011 Modified Bike series winner Beaton said the series was the best fun you could have.

"The eighth mile series is just so relaxed and with lots of racing...it's probably the best fun you can have drag racing!" said the 26 year old warehouse supervisor from Boronia Heights.

"We are on a roll I guess after winning the series in 2011 and coming in runner up spot in 2010.

"From here we will just keep going at it and try and get another series win. A big thanks has to go to my wife Karlee for coming to all the meetings and supporting me.

"All the modified bike competitors are really great and everyone helps each other out, but it was still great to get the series win!"

Brendale's Pinkstone, the 2011 series winner of Modified, said there was nothing like the eighth mile series for fun racing.

"The eighth mile series is just great, it is relaxed, it is friendly, you get the chance to run on different tracks you might not have visited previously, and you are guaranteed at least six races - and more racing equals more fun!" said the 42 year old line-haul truck driver.

"It was so great to win the series last year, I couldn't believe it when they told me, I have to give a big thank you to my crew – Al and Bec - I wouldn't have been able to get the results without their hard work."

The 2012 JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series is in its third year and will play host to Diamond T Products Junior Dragster, Queensland Nameplate Group Modified Bike, John Williams Auto Sales Super Street, Super Sedan, RD Williams Excavator Parts Modified and the new FJ Loy and Sons Earthmoving Old School bracket (replacing the previous ‘classic’ bracket).

Kicking off at Willowbank Raceway on 21 April, the series will then head to Benaraby Dragway for round two on 21 July. Roma’s Ironbark Dragway will then step up to the plate on 25 August, before the final round gets going at Warwick Dragway on 10 November 2012.
