FUCHS Winternationals stars descend on Logan Hyperdome

With less than 24 hours remaining until Australia’s largest drag racing event – the FUCHS Winternationals - kicks off at Willowbank Raceway tomorrow, a number of the stars of Australian drag racing have descended on the Logan Hyperdome for a media and fan day in the Piazza.

The fan fun will continue tonight with a fan evening in the East Mall of the Riverlink Shopping Centre featuring autograph sessions, fashion parades, prizes and entertainment. Current ANDRA Pro Series Champions Darren Morgan (Top Fuel) and John Zappia (Top Doorslammer) were joined by former Top Fuel champ Phil Lamattina and fellow Pro Series stars Maurice Allen, Shane Tucker and Kirsten Tucker - sister of Shane and aiming to be the first female Pro Stock racer this weekend - and 97.3fm’s Campo at the Piazza for a two hour fan meet and greet.

“We love coming to events such as these ahead of the big events. The four days of the FUCHS Winternationals will be so intense, so it is great to get away from the race track and mingle with the fans like this,” said Morgan.

“Having said that, we just cannot wait to get on track and defend our Top Fuel title and shoot for FUCHS Winternationals glory – everyone wants to win at the Winternationals, and we are no different!”

Reigning Top Doorslammer Champion Zappia echoed Morgan’s statements.

“The FUCHS Winternationals is just one of those must-do events, and we are ready and rearing to get on track and show the fans a great show, and to take home the FUCHS Winternationals and hopefully the ANDRA Pro Series titles for another year,” said Zappia.

Willowbank Raceway will play host to the FUCHS Winternationals across 8-11 June 2012, with the Queen’s Birthday long weekend event set to host more than 38,000 spectators and around 500 racers over its four action-packed days.

The action will not be confined to the quarter-mile however, with family entertainment, trade shows and plenty of action in pit lane for the whole family. Tickets start from just $20 with students (with ID) able to access discounted entry and children 13 and under enjoying free admission.
