Willowbank Raceway - General News: STAR-STUDDED PRO STREET FIELD TO HIT WILLOWBANK RACEWAY TOMORROW

STAR-STUDDED PRO STREET FIELD TO HIT WILLOWBANK RACEWAY TOMORROW

14 September 2012

More than 110 Pro Street muscle machines will hit Willowbank Raceway tomorrow for the Australian Pro Street Association’s Pro Street Shootout.

From ANDRA Pro Series stars to Pro Street royalty, a wide variety of high-powered vehicles will be hitting the track from 11.00am on Saturday.

Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said Queensland’s premier drag racing facility will play host to a wide range of star studded talent this Saturday.

“The talent, the experience, the variety and the raw power in this weekend’s entry list is just fantastic and it isn’t just limited to the awesome 10.5 category category either, there are big names all the way up and down entry list,” said Bettes.

“In a field of 110 racers there are 20 who appear in the sport’s top ten quickest lists for the various brackets and 29 racers who are currently within the top 15 of their respective class points chases.

“Names like Frank Mamone, Tony Wedlock and Jeremy Callaghan will butt heads in the 10.5 category, while Simon Kryger (in Travis Conor’s Torana) will have his work cut out for him taking on  Dominic Luppino and Tristian Ockers in their Blown Pro Streeters.

“In Modified Street Michael Voase, Michael Arnold and Craig Thompson will race for the gold trophy and the rest of the APSA categories are filled with star studded names like Pete Pronesti, Michael Brody, Janelle Scott and Brett Benz who will all be doing their best to write their names into the Pro Street racing record books.

“The APSA Pro Street drivers will be joined by Pro Series racers like Shane Tucker and Lee Bektash who were third and tenth in the ANDRA Pro Stock Championship this year and John Cannuli who was tenth in the Top Alcohol championship.

“This mix means spectators will find everything from naturally aspirated machines to blowers, turbos and nitrous big blocks to Pro Stock machines – and with the chicago shootout format in place, there will be plenty of opportunities for the fans to see each and every one of the entrants on track across the day.

“With tickets just $25 for adults and discounts for students with ID and children gaining free entry, there is real value for money to be had this weekend!”

Also on track during the event will be the Great Chrome Bumper Muscle Car Show – featuring anything and everything that can be classified as a muscle car with chrome bumpers.

With all brackets being run in the Chicago Shootout style (three rounds for all racers plus a final) there will be plenty of value for money racing on track for spectators, with tickets just $25 for adults, $20 for students with ID and free for children aged 13 and under.
