FIRST TRACK CHAMPIONS OF 2013 CROWNED AT WILLOWBANK RACEWAY
Article Date: 29 October 2013
The first three Willowbank Raceway Track Champions of 2013 have been crowned following the final rounds of the 2012/2013 Street Series across the last week.
Taking home the honours were Jody Wentworth (Powder Puff), Josh Fletcher (Street Sedan) and Anthony Weiland (Street Bike). For Wentworth, it is her second consecutive Street Series title in the bracket, while 26 year old Fletcher now has four such titles to his name.
New Willowbank Raceway Chief Executive Officer Tony Manson was pleased to congratulate 2013’s first Track Champions after being on-hand to present the trophies to the top 8 contenders following the final rounds.
“I am so pleased to be able to send my congratulations and those of everyone involved with Willowbank Raceway to Jody Wentworth, Josh Fletcher and Anthony Weiland on their Track Championship success,” said Manson.
“I made sure I was track side for both days of our Street Series finals over the past week and took great pleasure in being able to take in all of the action before presenting the top eight for each bracket with special recognition trophies, ahead of the winners receiving their Track Championship trophies on 16 November at our Season Finale.
“Our congratulations must also go to the runners-up Russell Sticklen in Street Sedan, Peter Harper in Street Bike and Deb Mackay in the Powder Puff bracket as well as all of the other competitors – I hope they have enjoyed the season and we can’t wait to welcome them all back to Willowbank Raceway next year so we can do it all again!”
The Street Series Track Champions will be presented with their Track Championship trophies following the Season Finale on 16 November 2013, which will also crown champions in the Allstar Batteries Supercharged Outlaws, Knijff Earthmoving Modified, Powercruise Super Sedan, Prime Signs/Speed Elec Super Street, Gasoline Alley Harley-Davidson Modified Bike, Donnelly Blasting Services Junior Dragster and Super Gas categories, with only narrow margins separating some of the top competitors - for full championship points, please click here.
