ACTION ROLLS ON AT WILLOWBANK FOLLOWING FUCHS WINTERNATIONALS SUCCESS

Article Date: 12 June 2014

More than 30,000 race goers packed in to Willowbank Raceway at the weekend for the largest championship drag racing event held outside of North America – the FUCHS Winternationals.

While the clean-up continues at Queensland’s premier drag racing facility following the Thursday 5 June to Sunday 8 June event, the on-track action endures with a host of events on the calendar for the coming months.

Across the next six weeks, the track will host nine test and tune events, two rounds of the Street Series (5 July and 26 July), the latest round of the Queensland Drag Racing Championship (12 July), the Falcon GT Club’s All Ford Day (20 July) and the return of the increasingly popular Mopar Sunday (27 July).

“The 2014 FUCHS Winternationals here at Willowbank Raceway was simply phenomenal,” said Willowbank Raceway CEO Tony Manson.

“The board and I have to thank our staff, volunteers, commercial partners and racers for all of their efforts, they all worked so very hard to deliver an outstanding event for the fans who came here to experience the FUCHS Winternationals.

“To the spectators we must send our biggest thanks, your support of the Raceway and this event is truly appreciated and without you the event wouldn’t have had the same atmosphere and buzz – you are all as much a part of this event as we are, so thank you.

“While the FUCHS Winternationals may be run and won for another year, we have an exciting schedule coming up including everything from test and tune events where anyone can take their own vehicle down the race track to racing for the Street Series and Queensland Drag Racing Championships, and two days which help us to celebrate Fords and Mopar right here at Willowbank.”

Willowbank Raceway is Queensland’s premier drag racing facility, located 45 minutes from Brisbane or just a short drive from Ipswich, offering a year-round program of events for the entire family. For more information including a full event calendar, please visit
