JAMBOREE CELEBRATES QUARTER-CENTURY THIS WEEKEND AT WILLOWBANK

25 August 2015

The popular Brisbane Jamboree – Australia’s largest automotive lifestyle event and now the longest running independently-run drag racing event in the country – will celebrate its 25th birthday when it hits Willowbank Raceway this Saturday (29 August).

Helping them celebrate will be no less than four of New Zealand’s quickest sport compact racers, with Tony Markovina, brothers Cory and Jeremy Abbott, and Ben Cox forming a special ‘Team New Zealand’ to attend the event, alongside their fellow Kiwi Jamboree stalwart Rod Harvey and his popular Celica.

“Fast small-car racing doesn’t get any bigger than the Jamboree and as we celebrate our 25th anniversary, you can be assured we have been pulling out all the stops to make J25 the best sport compact racing show in history,” said event founder Ray Box.

“Across one huge day and night, we will pack in the best small engine/huge turbo combinations from Australia and New Zealand into one show, with epic trans-Tasman match-ups and world record-smashing performances virtually guaranteed.

“As part of Team New Zealand, we will be hosting the world’s quickest GT-R – the RIPS R32 of Robbie Ward, who will be looking to reset his world record this weekend amidst a fight with Australia’s best AWD racers, and more than 150 other racers ready to put everything they have on the line in search of big numbers.”

Earlier this year, it was announced that drag racing identity and successful businessman Collin Willshire was joining Box as co-event owner from 2015.

“I can’t wait to see the Brisbane Jamboree in action this year – aside from a hectic race schedule we have so much on offer for fans of all things automotive, from an expanded and improved Show N Shine area, a completely new Show N Sell area, dyno and drifting demos, all the best traders in the business, and plenty of off-track entertainment,” said Willshire.

“A huge thank you has to go to all of our fans, supporters, racers, sponsors, officials, volunteers and partners who make this event what it is – we couldn’t do this without you.”

Tickets for the Brisbane Jamboree are just $35 for adults, Students with ID $30, while children aged 13 years and under gain free admission. Spectator gates open from 7.30am, with qualifying from 8.30am to 3.30pm, and racing from 3.30pm to approximately 10.00pm. For full event information go to
