QUARTER-MILE ACTION TO BOOST FATHERS DAY AT HYPERDOME

The Hyperdome Shopping Centre Father’s Day celebrations this year will have a nitro-powered flavour, courtesy a special display from 2-6 September at the centre by the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars and Willowbank Raceway.
The five day display comes just a week before the AONFC machines and their masters hit Willowbank Raceway for the first time on Saturday September 12 (for full event info, please click here or see further in this release).
The display will see three outlaw nitro funny cars, two wheelstanders, one Factory Xtreme race car - representing the ultimate in turbo sport compact drag racing technology – two Drag Radial race cars, and a range of other high-octane displays take over Hyperdome from Wednesday 2 September until Father’s Day on Sunday 6 September.
The ante will then be upped even further as the countdown to father’s day continues, with a special driver meet and greet in centre court near Myer on Saturday 5 September from 11.00am. Racers Greg Leahy, Jake Donnelly, Peter Leahy, Josh Leahy, Dan Donnelly, Paul Messineo and Justin Walshe will be in attendance, while AONFC and Willowbank Raceway promotional staff will be on-hand running competitions and selling event tickets, while Hyperdome will be running a giveaway of a Fastrack Drag Racing Experience all week on hyperdomeshopping.com.au.
Racer Peter Leahy, of the Gold Coast, has big plans for his appearance at the popular shopping destination.
"We plan on hyping up the Hyperdome," laughed local racer, Leahy.
"The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars are like nothing else that a lot of Hyperdome shoppers will have ever seen before!
"Our series is all about entertainment and getting it out to more people and this is a great example of that. Our whole family is involved in racing these cars and we are all based here on the Gold Coast.
"Willowbank Raceway is our local track and this is our local event, we want the locals to come out and support us!"
The appearance of these impressive machines and their drivers at Hyperdome Shopping Centre comes ahead of their journey to Willowbank Raceway on Saturday 12 September, for what will be the fourth round of the year for the Series.
Presented by Donnelly Blasting Services, the AONFC event will bring the largest ever field of outlaw nitro cars – more than 60,000 horsepower worth - to the Willowbank Raceway quarter-mile in a 12 September extravaganza.
Spectator entry is just $30.00 for adults ($25.00 for pension and students with ID card holders), and as always children aged 13 and under are admitted free of charge. Attendees of the annual Powercruise event (being held next door at Queensland Raceway on the same day) will gain entry at concession prices upon presentation of a promotional entry flyer that will be available at Powercruise during the day.
The action kicks off with a ‘salute’ to the crowd at 4.00pm and runs through to approximately 9.00pm, with the outlaw nitro funny cars to be joined by Pro Mod, Factory Xtreme and Kenda Tires Drag Radial racers for a non-stop show. For more information, please click here.
