Willowbank Raceway - General News: WILLOWBANK RACEWAY TO HOST EIGHTH MILE SERIES IN 2016

WILLOWBANK RACEWAY TO HOST EIGHTH MILE SERIES IN 2016

14 November 2015

With the JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series confirming its 2016 calendar, Willowbank Raceway is set to once again host the popular grassroots drag racing venture following a record-breaking year.

For the seventh year running Willowbank Raceway will play a part in the series, which will also travel to Benaraby Raceway (Gladstone), Warwick Dragway and Ironbark Raceway (Roma), across the year. In 2016, it will host the grand final round in the four round calendar on 24th September 2016

In 2015, the series has enjoyed its best year yet, with record entry numbers at each venue and a thrilling title chase that saw three racing categories so close that wasn’t until the very last race that a winner could be found.

Series organiser John Winterburn is pleased to confirm that all of the bracket sponsors have signed on to continue into 2016, as has naming rights sponsor JP Racing.

Robert Winterburn - Super Steet

“This year has seen record entries of more than 100 racers at all of our venues, some unbelievable racing, and an overwhelming amount of support from racers, officials, fans and sponsors alike,” said Winterburn.

“We couldn’t do this without their support and the support of the racers, the tracks and the officials who have gotten behind this Series year after year – we can’t wait to see what 2016 will bring after what was our best year yet in 2015.

“We are so excited to be able to confirm that in 2016 we will again welcome back all of our category sponsors; and also that our naming rights sponsor JP Racing will join us again for the fourth year running.

Paul Doeblein - Modified

Tim Barron - Junior Dragster

“We have a great season coming up, kicking off at Warwick Dragway on the 20th of February, before heading to Benaraby Dragway on the 23rd of April. Then we will travel to Ironbark Raceway for the 6th of August, before the Grand Final is held at Willowbank Raceway on the 24th of September.

“The support we have enjoyed from the racers and wider community of Ipswich each year has been greatly appreciated, and we can’t wait to be back in 2016.”

The 2016 season will again host racing for the FG Loy and Sons Earthmoving Eighth Mile Outlaws, RD Williams Excavator Parts Modified, Ice Slushee Super Sedan, John William Auto Sales Super Street, Queensland Nameplate Group Modified Bike and Diamond T Products Junior Dragster categories.
