WILLOWBANK ALL SET FOR MASSIVE AEROFLOW OUTLAW NITRO FUNNY CAR SHOW
Article Date: 29 April 2016
The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car show has rolled into Queensland and whilst the teams are set to take on not only each other this weekend, they are chomping at the bit to let the 4000hp flame throwing beasts loose on the superb Willowbank Raceway track surface.
Just like the inaugural outlaw nitro racing meeting at Willowbank Raceway, the event has again attracted a big group of nitro-powered beasts, with a huge line-up of more than 12 funny cars.
Aeroflow spokesperson, Steve Bettes was obviously delighted to be back at the very venue where many of the drivers live and work.
“For our local guys like Paul Messineo, Greg Leahy, Justin Walshe, the Donnelly and Peirano families this is a great chance to race in front of friends, family and local race fans. It is not often these guys get to race and sleep in their own bed!
“For everyone, it’s fantastic to be heading to Queensland again. The guys want to run quick and fast, and the Willowbank track certainly allows them to do that!
“Our series is not focussed around records but a track this good means we give the cars and the drivers the best chance for close racing, and that’s what it’s all about! Putting on a show for the crowd!
Bettes was also pleased to have the wheelstanding funny cars back to Willowbank Raceway as a part of the weekend’s entertainment.
“Having the Rocket Ship and Nitro Sheriff back is just brilliant, not only for the kids but for all of us. They put on a great show in their own right. Dan Donnelly and Josh Leahy, who drive the cars, are such wonderful young guys who spend time with the kids and hype the crowd. They are worth the entry price on their own.
The event will also see freestyle MotoX stars, Aussie FMX put on two twenty minute displays, featuring two of Australia’s best riders, performing the most dangerous tricks in the industry- including back flip combinations.
None other than Team Bray Racing’s Ben Bray will be headlining the Century Batteries Burnout Display in his 1963 Corvette Stingray.
The non-stop show will kick off at 4:00pm, before a 'salute' to the crowd at 4:30pm followed by runs through to approximately 10:00pm. For full event information, please click here.
