This Sunday June 6 will see 120 Castrol EDGE Winternationals entrants take the opportunity to milk the very best out of their high powered machines at the official Winters Warm-Up test day ahead of the June 10-13 event.

The Castrol EDGE Winternationals is the largest drag racing event outside of the US and in 2010 is set to host 480 plus racers – including 85 from the elite echelons of the sport – over the four days Thursday through to Sunday at the Ipswich quarter-mile.

Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said the Winters Warm-Up was all about allowing racers a last chance to test out their equipment ahead of the biggest drag racing event in the country, which is also the season-finale for the ANDRA Pro Series drag racing season.

“The Castrol EDGE Winternationals is a massive event and something that the racers are extremely passionate about, and as a season-ending event, for many it’s make or break in terms of who takes home the championship,” said Bettes.

“With so many racers coming from interstate and many also travelling from the far corners of Queensland, the Sunday before the event provides the perfect opportunity for the racers to take to the track the week of and test their equipment, set up and ‘get their eye in’.

“We are looking at 120 of our entrants taking part in this day at this stage, including many from the ANDRA Pro Series categories, and you can be assured the atmosphere will be intense as everyone has the prized Gold Christmas Tree in their sights.”

The Castrol EDGE Winternationals is the largest drag racing event outside of North America and is expected to host around 500 racers at the season-ending event.

The Thursday June 10 to Sunday June 13 event will host the championship ANDRA Pro Series final rounds for Top Fuel, Top Alcohol, Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock, Morgan & Wacker Top Bike and Morgan & Wacker Pro Stock Bike as well as final championship rounds for all of the sportsman brackets.
